Three of the best names in rap announced they were forming a supergroup last week and haven’t looked back since. As promised, Noname, Saba, and Smino dropped their new single Haagen Dazs as the newly ingrained Ghetto Sage.

During a March interview with Billboard, Smino discussed his long relationship with fellow Chicago MCs Noname and Saba and touched on the possibility of forming a group.

It’s due time, as the three have already gained notoriety as an informal trio dropping quiet posse cuts like Shadow Man and Ace on Noname’s albums. What was less expected was for Ghetto Sage’s first release to use 808 kick drums and a flute loop more akin to Mask Off than anything on Telefone or Care For Me.

Fans are already asking for a full length effort.
