Have you guys ever been to a Prince show? If you’re one of those people who don’t like Prince  and have never seen him play on TV or footage of him on a cellphone even, then you got jerked off. No, literally; you got jerked off. While all of us were having group sex at the Prince concert you were listening to the radio.

I’m telling you from first hand, Prince concerts are religious experiences.. Instrument jumping, covers, guests, the twin dancers, triple encores, simple stage ornamentation..Nobody did it like Prince. For years, he wouldn’t play his hits. That’s what they told me when I was on my way to the Forum in 2011.. He literally played all of his hits. It was frightening and until I saw Radiohead in 2018, this had yet to be topped (I’ve been to about 120 ticketed concerts).

Today, we look through the extensive myriad of live footage now available through YouTube loopholes, five years after his passing. Join us for the medleys, the solos, and the surprise appearances where he showed up and stole the hour. 💜🕊⚧🍊

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, 2004: "Sign O' the Times"

Purple Rain Medley with Beyoncé, Grammy Opening Performance, 2004: "Purple Rain," "Baby I'm a Star," "Crazy in Love," "Let's Go Crazy"

American Idol Surprise Performance, 2006: "Lolita" and "Satisfied"

Paisley Park, 1999: "Kiss"

Coachella, 2008: "Creep" (Radiohead Cover)

Webster Hall, April 20, 2004: "Cream"

Syracuse, New York, 1985: "The Beautiful Ones"

Oprah Winfrey Show, 1996: "Do Me Baby" and "If I Was Your Girlfriend"

Paisley Park, New Years Eve 1987: "Hot Thing"

Best Prince Guitar Solo Ever?

The Three Best Prince Guitar Solos As Seen On TV

Prince had a knack for showing up on basic cable and just wiping the floor with his guitar, with the axe becoming his choice instrument in the back half of his career. The guitar allowed Prince to be emotive and rhythmic, but also mobile which was equally important.
