Coming off their 20-date residency in Brooklyn, LCD Soundsystem have a holiday special set to air on Amazon Music and its Twitch channel December 22, one day after the final night of their residency at Brooklyn Steel wraps.

Directed by Eric Wareheim of Tim & Eric notoriety, the special will feature a career-spanning set with footage caught from Brooklyn including the live debut of “Christmas Will Break Your Heart” which marked their first single in five years when it was released in 2015. It can be heard used in the trailer below.

The special will open with a sitcom spoof named after the group’s immortal “All My Friends” that mimics the three camera sitcom and features the band played by actors and comedians.

Eric Wareheim as James Murphy

Macaulay Culkin as Pat Mahoney (drums)

Chrstine Ko as Nancy Whang (synths)

Aparna Nancherla as Abby Echiverri (synths)

Cory Loykasek as Al Doyle (guitar)

Jon Daly as Tyler Pope (bass)

Rex Lee as Brian Graf, James Murphy’s manager

Luenell as the band’s tour manager

A puppet as Korey Richey.

Synth player Gavilán Rayna Russom, LCD’s transgender former member who revealed in a November 2021 interview with Pitchfork that she had amicably, but permanently left the band and will not be participating in Brooklyn Steel, has not been included and instead the part of new member Abby Echiverri has been cast.

Wareheim appeared to be over the moon about the project in his press statement:

“I’ve already conquered film, James has conquered music, but we have yet to conquer the sitcom—the HIGHEST form of art […] We’ve been working on this project for 15 years, and for this show we’re unveiling a uniquely emotional perspective of the sitcom universe for the holidays—provided by one of the greatest bands of all time and my dear friends, LCD Soundsystem. I can’t believe Amazon Music is letting us do this.”

Murphy expressed similar shock that Amazon greenlit the project:

“I am similarly stunned that someone let us do this. At least we finally get to use our Korey puppet.”

LCD Soundsystem Holiday Special airs on December 22 at 9:00 PM (EST)
